  • Starting at the car park near Barden Tower, Bolton Abbey and following the infamous Barden Road, the climb averages 7% but with several ramps up to 14%, presenting a tough challenge even for the fittest cyclist. Congratulations to Luke Rothery (6mins 49secs) who narrowly pipped......

JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Most online communication about club activities takes place in the AOCC Facebook Group, which is open to all members and people interested in joining the club.  It is the best place to check the latest plans for ride routes and destinations, and to make arrangements for our park and ride trips etc.  Also keep an eye on Strava to see how club rides went and give some kudos.

We also communicate in the real world at a monthly club meeting and when we’re out on a ride.  Don’t be shy, say hello!

CLUB EQUIPMENT FOR HIRE

The Club has invested in a bike box for hire by members, to assist you in taking your bike on holiday without the expense of buying or risk of damage.  Check availability of this on the Club Calendar and then speak to Ian S about booking.

Is there anything else that the club could purchase for the shared benefit of members and the promotion of cycling?  If so, we’d encourage you to make the case so it can be considered.  Speak to Chris S, Alan or Trish in the first instance.

GRAND TOUR, AWARDS & FESTIVE CELEBRATIONS

Over recent years the club has celebrated each of the three Grand Tours with a corresponding Italian, French and Spanish meal at a local restaurant.  Watch this space for a curry to mark the Tour of India!

An evening ride-out meal takes place mid-summer, whilst the traditional ride-out Christmas dinner takes place in early December.

The annual awards night recognises the contribution and achievement of club members with some light entertainment, food and drink.  Dates can change but this is typically in January.

All club members and partners are welcome to attend these events.  It really is the more the merrier.  Like everything in the club, if you have a suggestion or can contribute in any way please shout out.  We couldn’t do it without you!
